A flash flood that hit two hamlets in Skinu village, Timor Tengah Selatan regency in Nusa Tenggara on early Wednesday has killed 16 people and severely damaged 134 houses, a top official said Thursday.

Toeanas District chief David Kase told Antara news agency that 825 people have taken refuge after their house was hit by water overflowing Pono River.

David also said that there were reports of missing people, but the administration has yet attain accurate data.

The disaster-hit hamlets are located in isolated areas about 110 kilometers south of SoE, the capital of Timor Tengah Selatan.
